IT SYSTEMS REVIEW CONSULTANT , Banque Commerciale Du Rwanda, Kigali, Rwanda, 9/2006- 12/2006.

•  Carry out an analysis of

•  the current core banking system with view to comment on its suitability utilization for current operations and the for meeting the MIS needs of management

•  the current structure manning and management of the IT function in the light of current international best practice

•  Comment on the suitability of the system for the growth planned for business including the introduction of e-banking products.

•  In the light of a) &b) above to make appropriate recommendations for enhancement of the systems capability, including upgrading, or replacing the system with one suitable.

•  Define a possible implementation plan with approximate cost for the recommendations above.

 

DELTA-BANK SYSTEMS IMPLEMENTATION CONSULTANT , Banque Commerciale Du Rwanda, Kigali, Rwanda, 1/2007- To Date.

a) Project Manager charged to oversee the Delta-bank software stabilization project and related matters including training of all IT staff and business users.

b) Re-structure the manning and management of IT department in line with current international best practice.

c) Implement a rigorous Service improvement Programme for the IT department to ensure minimum control and compliance standards are put in place and adhered to.

d) Develop an IT policy and a five year IT Strategy based on the bank's business plans and vision.

e) Develop a project management plan for the stabilization of the core banking application.

f) Develop job descriptions, personal development plans and training plans for all IT staff.

g) Mentor the Head of IT on business and systems integration techniques.

i) Maintain and manage a budget of $400,000 used to run the stabilization project.

k) Hire key staff and put in a place a project team.

l) Implement terms of reference for a project steering committee and project working committee.

l) Day-to-day running of the IT department.

 

1996 – 2004 Standard Chartered Bank (SCB)

HEAD OF SERVICE DELIVERY & PROJECTS , SCB GAMBIA, 2000-2004

•  Country IT/IS Project Manager & Regional IT/IS Project Coordinator for Centralization and Hubbing project. Through the use of MS-project, directed and managed all project plans and ensured a timely and cost-efficient delivery of all critical project tasks.

•  Co-managed all Information Technology issues and actively contributed to the banks' business improvement programmes.

•  Prepare and update the banks' disaster recovery planning procedures and ensure timely drills are carried out.

•  Support and maintain all the banks' technology and telecommunications platforms; 5 branches including head office.

HEAD OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY , SCB BOTSWANA, 1998-2000

•  Manage and support all the banks' technology and telecommunications platforms; 17 branches including head office.

•  Country IT Project Manager for the centralization project. Maintained and managed IT/IS budget and ensured timely completion of all project activities.

•  An active member of MANCOM, Project steering committee, risks committee and HR committee.

•  Project coordinator for Y2K.

•  Recruit and train new IT/IS staff in line with new centralized model. Managed a total of 27 IT/IS staff.

•  Implemented a standard NT desktop/server platform in line with Group's standard IT processes, disciplines and policies.

•  Implemented new disaster recovery procedures in line with new controlled and centralized environment.

•  Select preferred external service providers based on merit and negotiate and sign off Service Level Agreements on behalf of the bank.

•  Implemented and managed new IT/IS 24x7 Production Data Center .

•  ISO-9002 certification for IT/IS unit.

•  Manage and support all the banks' technology platforms; 5 branches including head office.

•  Implementation of a standard Microsoft client/server environment, to include email and office automation.

•  Implementation of an effective Problem and Change Management system.

•  Plan and organize disaster recovery tests.

•  Support and fix Bankmaster (the banks' retail banking application) application issues.

•  Implement a new Data Processing Unit for the council and provide day-to-day computer administration and support. Deployed a WANG-based INIX network.

COMPUTER CONSULTANT , ALPHA COMPUTING LTD., BANJUL , 992-1994

•  Sales and after-sales support of PCs and servers. Regional distributor for COMMODORE Business Machines.

SYSTEMS SUPPORT AND ANALYST PROGRAMMER , ABERDEEN UNIT TRUST MANAGERS, 1994-1996

•  Duties include technical support on the Delphi Client / Server platform, code generation using Delphi client / server software. Gathered extensive experience in the management of Unit Trusts.
